A total of 700 elderly have everything to be thankful for as they will have the best Christmas, courtesy of OK Foods Eswatini.

The senior citizens received food hampers worth about E250,000 in an auspicious event held at OK Foods Kwaluseni yesterday. Of the 700 beneficiaries, 600 are from Kwaluseni Inkhundla,50 from Luyengo, and 50 from Msunduza. These are areas where the OK MiniMark franchise operates in Eswatini. The 700 is an increase from the 500 elderly who received food hampers from OK Foods last year. When making his remarks during the event, Linac Enterprises’ Managing Director, Lincoln Motsa, said this year’s donation marked the seventh edition of what is termed a tradition of giving back to Kwaluseni’s elderly.

He noted that in this year’s edition of the donation, OK Foods had partnered with Mpendulo Phakathi of MEP Investments, who contributed the vegetables that were afforded to the 700 senior citizens. Motsa explained that Phakathi is a Liswati who is also one of OK Foods’ key fruit and vegetable suppliers. On this note, Motsa said the partnership with Phakathi was testament that OK Foods’ management was committed to not only delivering quality products to consumers, but to also empower Emaswati entrepreneurs to be the ones supplying these products.

“This year, the event is not only for Kwaluseni elders, but Luyengo and Msunduza as well. This event embodies our enduring commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate, and is an integral part of our culture at Linac Investments,” asserted Motsa. Further, he said, despite the challenging economic climate in the country, Linac Enterprises’ management took great pride in upholding the annual tradition of donating food hampers to senior citizens. Motsa added that over the years, Linac Enterprises consistently supported local communities by sourcing fresh produce from nearby farmers and by empowering fellow Emaswati. Meanwhile, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo said it had been an honour and privilege to host this event over the years, where Linac Enterprises, in partnership with the franchisor, supports the less privileged people of the community with food hampers to ensure that they have a delightful Christmas.
